HOUSTON, TX – May 31, 2012: MicroSeismic, Inc. announced today that Sherilyn Williams-Stroud, PhD has been appointed Chief Geologist. In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing geologic interpretation and the integration of microseismic into the geologic and geomechanical analysis of well stimulations.

During her time with MicroSeismic, Sherilyn helped pioneer the integration of source mechanism analysis to build discrete fracture network models and generate permeability volumes to create more constrained stimulated rock volume calculations. This has allowed MicroSeismic to offer advanced geological and geomechanical analyses to help customers better understand how the reservoir responds to stimulation.
Sherilyn has more than 24 years of experience in geological research. She began her career at U.S. Geological Survey in 1988 as a Research Geologist. Through her career she has worked for ChevronTexaco Exploration and Production Technology as Senior Research Scientist, University of Houston and Whittier College as a faculty member and Midland Valley Exploration as Principal Geologist before joining MicroSeismic as a Geologic Advisor.

Sherilyn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, a Master of Arts and a PhD in Structural Geology from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. She is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), National Association of Black Geologists and Geophysicists (NABGG) and European Association of Geologist and Engineers (EAGE). She is an active service worker with many professional societies and has authored numerous technical papers.
