Anadarko Scores with Shale

Anadarko recently announced that significant potential was revealed as a result of their initial drilling activity in the Niobrara shale play.

Consequently, Anadarko management is planning increased upstream and mid-stream activity in the area, positioning them for what could be big gains in this onshore growth play.

Anadarko is a global company - one of the largest independent oil and gas exploration and production entities in the world, with 2.4 billion barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) of proved reserves as of Dec. 31, 2010.

While Noble Energy and Chesapeake are also players in the Niobrara field, it is Anadarko that leads the pack. Anadarko holds over 1.3 million net acres in the promising Niobrara.

Though exploration and development of this shale play is still in the early stages, it is already being compared to the Bakken Shale, the birthplace of the recent U.S. shale revolution. With such high expectations, oil and gas companies have been rapidly buying up land leases and acquiring acreage in the region over recent years.

No matter what company, nor where they're exploring, MicroSeismic applauds the successes of our industry peers. We are living in a time where resource demand grows larger and larger and drilling restrictions are increasing just as quickly. It is only through respecting and supporting each other's endeavors that we will triumph as an industry.
